One of the features of the modern world is the significant role of the media in shaping perceptions vision of the world, especially the electronic media - television, the Internet. One often hears opinions that it is the media that create the trends in and directions of social changes, dictate how to behave, what to wear, where to eat and how. Their omnipresence and ability to reach a multimillion audience strengthens their opinion role. One of the media’s most important targets is the youth, hence the content of the message is adapted to the level of perception of that particular group, while the media message itself is subject to the same rules as those applicable to adult audiences. In other words, due to their inexperience and immature personality, young people are far more susceptible to manipulation in the media. The present study is aimed at presenting the gravity of media manipulation and its effect on the formation and shape of the youth’s identity.
