The article attempts to reflect on how to show the problem of sin in the Polish Church in feature films. The analysis includes two films – In the name... by Małgorzata Szumowska and Clergy by Wojciech Smarzowski, which are treated as examples of two opposing narrative strategies. The first of them is described as persuasive, the second as its opposite – a tool of dialogue. Reflections on the diversity of messages regarding social problems are set in the context of the issue of social involvement, which reveals – within the comparative analysis – its ambivalent character.
