Since the beginning of its history, mankind has adopted behaviors related to obtaining and processing food. All actions taken within the scope of eating, gave rise to permanent habits, transforming into customs. This is how culinary culture was formed, encompassing food and drink norms. Today we are balancing between the customs of our ancestors and trends calling for nutritional innovation. In a way, today’s society is breaking with old culinary traditions. However, changing living conditions reactivate the desire to return to what was original. A special role in this direction is played by the New Media, which are the carrier of popularization of widely understood culinary. In connection with the apparent interest in traditional cuisine, the main objective of this paper was to explain what kind of nutritional norms today’s trends lead to, and to emphasize the relationship between food and popular culture. The analysis and interpretation of source literature, as well as materials published on the Internet, were used to achieve these goals. The methods used made it possible to point out the direction of contemporary culinary habits. Moreover, they justified the significance of the media in the practice of old food traditions.
