The Catholic Church has a valuable tradition of consecrated life in its diverse forms. The life, which is hidden behind the cloister of the Discalced Nuns of the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel, is difficult to describe. Indeed, such life is a special kind of vocation based both on paying glory to God, and the sacrifice and self-denial for the salvation of the world. This unique mission has its source in the experience of St. Theresa of Avila. The aim of this article is to show one of her spiritual daughters: St. Theresa of Jesus of the Andes and her spiritual heritage. Great part of her writings is dedicated to Carmelite Spirituality, extending, this way, the Carmel tradition by her own experience and reflection.
