The university communication management requires planning and takes account of changes in the media and characteristics of the recipients. Social media have a new specificity, the media are available around the clock, and based on interactivity. The vast majority of universities in Poland use the social media in the communication process with the broadly understood environment. The article addresses the issue of the use of the social media to communicate with students. Presents the results of research carried out at the Silesian University of Technology.
