Theological hermeneutics and iconographic and iconological method in the study of images with religious content

The author discusses the differences between two methods: theological hermeneutics and the iconographic and iconological method of Erwin Panofsky in the interpretation of images with religious content. After explaining theological hermeneutics and Panofsky's method, the author discusses a number of differences between these two methods. In the approach proposed by the author, these two methods, differing essentially, may be complementary to research approaches.
