The article proposes the concept of the attitude of education in the media, which can be described as media anti- education. It played an important role in the countries subordinate to the Soviet Union, including Poland. The man brought up in this trend was not ready for the challenges posed by the newly created media modeled after the Western one after 1989. The purpose of the article is to attempt to determine the challenges that the media recipient faced after the political transformation in the post-Soviet countries. To this end, it was indicated what problems the media recipient struggled with before 1989, as well as his lack of preparation for the upcoming capitalist media system. Finally, the current direction of media education assumptions in Polish society has been outlined. The article is an introduction to considerations on the current model of implementing media education in Poland.
