Historical discourse and popular science discourse in YouTube on the example of the elected channels

The aim of the article is to present the features of the historical discourse represented by the most popular and developing Polish-language historical channels on YouTube and the attempt to define the relationship between historical and popular science discourse. The research material consisted of films from the channels “Historia Bez Cenzury”, “Irytujący Historyk”, “Oblicza XX wieku”, “Historia Światowa” and “Powojnie”. The subject matters, the represented values and the style of utterance were analyzed. It was assumed that the historical and popular science discourse function on equal terms in the mentioned channels. This hypothesis was negatively verified. The results of the analysis showed that the features of popular science discourse largely determine the content and the style as much as tabloidization and infotainment.
