The Atlantis – poets’ and mountebanks’ phantasm. Modernist literary visions against the background of epoch’s forgeries

The article concerns the attractiveness of the idea of Atlantis in culture. Selected early modernist works were contrasted with feature articles. Philosophical projects are assumed as a context here. Analyzing poetic and non-literary texts indirectly led to reveling the ways of reviving the atmosphere of mystery (in the works and around them), immanently present in the first tale of „the isle of happiness”, whose mysterious face was saved in Plato’s dialogues Timaios and Kritias.
