Pope Benedict XVI's resignation stunned the believers and non–believers alike. Given the time of social secularization and the general trend to question the values cherished by the Catholic Church, the media eagerly picked up this piece of breaking news. The papal resignation was discussed from various angles and many conclusions were drawn. The paper offers a n analysis of the information and comments that appeared in „Wiadomości”, the news program on TVP1.
