Information management in digital media in the COVID-19 era – between the possible and the impossible – an attempt at constructive analysis

The pandemic brutally forced us to re evaluate the ways of functioning (reduction of direct contacts for remote contacts) and the social goals. It was digital media (the Internet) that saved society from economic disaster and possibly social unrests or riots. It turns out that the digital media platform we really need may be more than ten times larger (remote medicine, remote learning, remote work, remote shopping, restaurants delivering home-ordered meals, etc.) than what we previously considered needed. This new emerging reality requires work to put it in order. Therefore, there will be questions about whether and how to control the information in digital media? The article suggests a sustainable digital media management system, applicable when charismatic/populist leaders of top nations, such as presidents Donald Trump (USA), Jair Bolsonaro (Brazil) are highly incompetent, incapable of understanding the situation and taking wrong and often catastrophic decisions. Regarding this situation, the authors suggest a management system based on an evolutionarily created legal system (due to its unpredictable complexity) with a contribution of elements of self-control and self-regulation in the sense of Adam Smith’s Invisible Hand. The article will present the key points of the author’s reasoning and constructive conclusions.
