The article discusses the situation of culture in the era of a pervasive influence of the media. The author primarily shows the value of heritage in the light of the Church Magisterium. He then analyzes the impact of global processes on culture, paying a particular attention to the essence of popular culture, considering the opportunities and threats arising from its appearance and showing mainly the problem of the identity of a contemporary man who is the creator and the recipient of the achievements. In order not to get lost in the world of commercialism, the author shows the value of cultural and media education, the subject of which is a person focused on God.
