Ethical understanding of identity in the context of Catholic Social Teaching

The article presents main concepts related to the understanding of the man’s ethical identity, mainly concerning Catholic Social Teaching and the concept by Alasdair MacIntyre, based on the classical ethics. A review of the main concepts related to the ethical identity shows that without its proper understanding, it is not possible to formulate any rules related to the social life. It is also essential to state that formulating an ethical identity concept is not possible without certain principles in the field of classical metaphysics and anthropology. Man’s ethical identity – it is a relation of dependences and accordance of human acts with his natural development as a personal being. The article also presents views questioning the concept of man’s ethical identity and stressing the smoothness and underspecification of a modern man's life (by R. Rorty, Z. Bauman). Such deconstruction of the identity concept leads to a destruction of a human subject.
